Ethics Discussions at PEA Soup: The Next Installment

As many of you have no doubt noticed, the most recent (April) issue of Ethics was published on-line last weekend.  We are pleased to announce that the article from that issue to be discussed next as part of our ongoing collaboration with Ethics will be "Moral Rationalism and Rational Amoralism," by our own Mark van Roojen.  The discussion will kick off with a precis by Russ Shafer-Landau.  However, because Mark is going to be pretty much unavailable to contribute to the e-discussion until mid-July (he will be cabin-bound), the official discussion will not kick off until July 12.  And so we can keep Mark's article freely available for as long as possible after discussion starts, it will not be made available (for free, anyway) until July 2.  So mark your calendars!  I will post a reminder and a link to the article on July 2.

Welcome, Christian Miller!

We are pleased to announce that Christian Miller has accepted our invitation to become an official  contributor here at PEA Soup.  Christian is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Zachary T. Smith Faculty Fellow at Wake Forest University, where he focuses on metaethics, moral psychology, theory of action, normative theory, and philosophy of religion.  He is currently beginning work on a new book, A New Theory of Character.  It's great to have you aboard, Christian!

For Experimental Philosophers Needing Help with the Experimental Part...

The Experiment Month initiative is a program designed to help philosophers conduct experimental studies. If you are interested in running a study, you can send your study proposal to the Experiment Month staff. Then, if your proposal is selected for inclusion, we will conduct the study online, send you the results and help out with any statistical analysis you may need. All proposals are due Sept. 1.
